Ardans consultants practising knowledge engineering use the "Omega Cycle" as a method for collecting (making explicit) and validating knowledge. This practice is proven in both "single expert" and "multi-expert" arrangements. The term "mono-expert" or "multi-expert" is used when one or more individuals are recognised for their expertise in the same business domain. The first collections according to the Omega Cycle method were carried out in March 2005 (see articles below). Regarding the deadlines, Ardans recommends that the operation be carried out at a certain pace in order to obtain the best possible efficiency in the intellectual service. Thus, for three days of interviews with an expert, allow for a period of 4 to 6 weeks, and for ten days, try to block the service for a maximum of 3 to 4 months. |
The knowledge engineering profession comes from the one, as defined during the development of expert systems or knowledge-based systems, where the engineer translated the business rules from the expert into the language of the inference engine.
